My interest in technology started at a young age and has since grown into a passion. Being disappointed by the old Business Technology Club (BTC) being inactive, my team and I decided to take the initiative and revive it as the Haskayne Technology Club (HTC), a hub for business and technology. Apart from my love for technology, I am also an enthusiastic nature lover who enjoys hiking and taking walks around her neighborhood.

Being in the role of VP of Finance also allows me to contribute to the HTC team to provide fantastic club opportunities to fellow students.

I’Throughout my degree, I became passionate about leveraging new technologies to improve decision-making and to make business practices more efficient. As the boundaries between business and technology continue to blur, I wanted to share my passion for bringing the two fields together. I recognized that our courses do not provide enough support in educating students about the role of technology in transforming businesses and the potential career paths. I joined HTC because it is an opportunity to connect with like-minded peers to share our knowledge and create new opportunities for fellow students.

The reason I joined HTC was I saw a need for a space in which BANA and BTMA majors at Haskayne could collaborate. With curiosity for how the business world is progressing in terms of technology, I always wanted to see a community at Haskayne where like-minded peers could interact and ideate. As an accounting major myself, I would like to inspire students to explore the intersection of tech with traditional business practices, especially accounting, to inspire innovation. We hope this club will foster community and creativity for all interested students at UofC, and further enhance our school spirit!
Omar Faied
